Built in 1984 on 15 spectacular ocean front acres at Po'olenalena Beach on the Makena coastline (just south of Wailea), the Makena Surf's gated resort is still private. It is located five minutes from the shops of Wailea, 10 minutes from grocery shopping in Kihei and 45 minutes from the airport. The golf and tennis facilities are outstanding with 36 holes of golf, a driving range, and several tennis courts with pro shop. Most of the 107 units in the six separate three-story buildings offer breathtaking ocean and mountain views. Two swimming pools, two whirlpool spas, four tennis courts, two beaches, and private barbeque areas are also on the property. The tropical grounds are beautifully planted. Hibiscus flowers, fragrant plumeria trees, ginger, and other island favorites are a delight as is the meandering stream, small bridges, and private sitting areas. All units offer central air-conditioning, large, fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, Cable TV, and free local telephone service. The amenities also include a whirlpool spa and spacious private lanai overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Molikini Island to the West.
